Osnabrück RFC v Bochum-Witten RFC
04.10.14
The friendly game between the ORFC and BWRFC ended with a close and dramatic 30:29 win for Bochum-Witten
With Captain Guga Imnadze, and Gray Cocking missing from the starting XV the Ballsport boys did not let their absence count, although it only took 7 minutes for BWRFC to score their first try, missing their conversion left avery early 5:0 lead for the visitors. and shotly after in the 12th minute BWRFC crossed the line again, again missing the conversion brining the game to a 10:0 lead. However all hopes of an easy win for the visitors in Blue were soon dashed when Colin Brett broke through the line 2 minutes later and scored a try for the boys in Green,an unsuccessful conversion bringing the score to 10:5 after 14 minutes. After a series of good plays it was unfortunate that Kevin Grant had a try disallowed, being held up over the line, however on the other end at 33 minutes BW extended their lead to 15:5 missing another conversion in the process. But the ORFC were not done yet with Rico Wall bitzing to the try line and scoring in the 38th minure, Brett converted bringing the halftime score to 15:12 to BW.
The second half started as did the first half with BW scoring early from kick off, another failed conversion attempt extending the lead to 20:12, ORFC then rallied and scored in the 48th mnute with a try from Irakili (surname) a missed conversion from Brett this time closing the gap to 20:17 and in the 54th minute the ORFC took the lead through Brett as he danced his way through the defence, a failed conversion (which was to prove vital) bringing the score to 22:20 to Osna, a lead they would hold until BW regained the lead in the 65th minute bringing the score to 25:22 to BW only to have ORFC take the lead on the 67th minute through Wall, Brett converted bringing the score to 29:25 and an exciting last 10 minutes to go. After some hard defending BW broke through on the 76th minute to take a 30:29 lead, a glimmer of hope appreared in the 79th minute when BW were penalised, with the ball out of Bretts kicking range the ORFC had no choice to go for a line out in the corner, a Big drive from Alvydas Schulz and the OS fowards was foiled when the ball slipped out of the big 2nd rows hands. 30:29 the final score
